A Legacy Born in 1926,
Branded in 2020
In 1926, our family matriarch, Shrimati Gyanwati Devi (Dadi Maa), began hand-sorting raw amber Hing crystals and selling pure, unfiltered Hing loosely from her home in Northern India — rejecting the generic market powders diluted with wheat flour and starch.
This purity tradition was later passed through the family to a retail store, Mittal and Company, which carried forward the legacy from 1980. In 2020, the brand SATTVAA was formally established to bring this century-old purity to every kitchen across India, sealed in airtight jars with zero fillers.

Loved by Chefs and Homemakers
"Standard store-bought Hing has maida and gum fillers that dilute the essence. A tiny pinch of SATTVAA gives a richer, smoother umami taste to my sambhar than a whole teaspoon of regular brand Hing."
"As a professional chef, the purity of ingredients is non-negotiable. SATTVAA Pure Hing retains the volatile sulfur compounds that give Indian curries their true depth. Highly recommended for any serious kitchen."
"Living alone, I cook quick meals. A tiny jar of SATTVAA lasts forever and elevates my basic dal tadka instantly. No bloating or digestion issues anymore. It's clean, potent and authentic."
"My mother-in-law taught me to grind Hing tears in stone mortars. Since she passed, we lost that pure taste until we tried SATTVAA. It tastes exactly like the handmade Hing from fifty years ago."
"I started cooking my own meals during college. I was skeptical about high-priced Hing, but SATTVAA is so concentrated that one jar has lasted me 5 months. The garlic-onion alternative aroma is amazing."
"In traditional pickle making, Hing acts as a flavor agent and preservative. Standard powders dilute the preservative quality, but SATTVAA's pure resin keeps my pickles fresh and aromatic for a year."
The Guardian of the
Kitchen Tadka
"Purity is not a formulation; it is a mother's silent prayer for her family's long health."
For Shrimati Gyanwati Devi (Dadi Maa), Hing was never just a spice. It was the foundation of wellness, the starting point of digestion, and the heart of every home-cooked meal. Since 1926, she hand-sorted amber resin tears and sold pure Hing loosely, ensuring that not a single speck of soapstone or flour reached her community's kitchens.
We carry her stone mortar legacy forward. The family first retailed pure hing through Mittal and Company (est. 1980) before formally launching the SATTVAA brand in 2020 — bringing this century-old purity directly to doorsteps across India.
